Is Laser light therapy the best treatment to help a red blotchy face?

I was born with a small red birthmark about the size of a quarter on my face. Over many years it has grown and now covers half my face and some of my neck and chin. It looks like varicose veins on my face, and is very embarrassing. Is there anything that can be done for it?

A light wave treatment is the best. There are two light wave treatments available: Laser and intense pulsed light (IPL). The latter is different from the laser treatment, but both methods may be necessary to remove your problem.

That is a hard question to answer. Have you been to a dermatologist or a plastic surgeon? That would be my advice.

You should see a specialist in facial skin abnormalities to determine the
etiology of the area you describe; laser may or may not be the correct
treatment.

There are excellent lasers out there which may be able to help you. However, you need to be seen by an experienced laser physician in a medical facility and not a spa setting. NdYag lasers are the best in these situations. Check the Cutera Laser website as they have some information which may help you.

Laser is probably the best option but, if not successful, it could be a venous malformation that would need some kind of vascular study such as CT or MRI.

You should see a specialist who is knowledgeable in congenital vascular malformations of the face. As described, since it is not on both sides, it is less likely rosacea, which can be treated by light therapy.
This may require sclerotherapy and light, and you should not see just anyone who happens to own a machine. There are a small number of specialists usually in large medical centers who are qualified to handle this. Not seeing this, it might be a port wine stain lesion.
