Is leg swelling normal after the VNUS procedure?

I had VNUS vein closure 3 days ago. I don't feel pain, but my leg is very swollen. Is this is normal? Also, I'm scheduled to do the other leg in a month. Can I skip the second session?

You should have an ultrasound examination immediately to ensure you do not have a deep vein clot. This is unusual.

Hello - yes, this can be seen immediately after the procedure. It is nearly always temporary, and will resolve. Please wear the compression stockings as you may have been instructed to; they will help "squeeze" the extra blood upwards to reduce the swelling.

Swelling post closure procedure is usually normal. However, if there is significant swelling then you should follow up with your vein specialist to ensure that there is no problem. Whether or not you do the other leg is between you and your vein doctor.
