Is there an age restriction with endovenous laser ablation?

Is it better to get the procedure when you're young? I'm 68. Are there more risks involved as you get older?

Endovenous laser ablation is a very safe procedure done under local(tumescent) anesthesia. There are no age restrictions and ,in fact, I a performed the procedure from ages 13 through 91. It is always best to perform the procedure at a younger age if the indications and symptoms are present and the patient is medically an acceptable risk.

There are no age restrictions to laser ablation. Because the procedure is done under local anesthesia, it is extremely safe and can be done at any age.
I have done patients as young as 22, and as old as 85 without any problems.

There are no age restrictions to this procedure. The only restriction applies to an individual who is unable to ambulate which would put them at increased risk for blood clot. The risks of the procedure are very low regardless of age.

Depending on patient particulars, the procedure is widely applicable to many ages and I have done the procedure on patients age 13-90. There are no specific age restrictions. The risks are quite low in any age group.

There really are very few restrictions to the procedure. The bottom line is that if you have disease that warrants treatment, you are better to complete it before it gets worse. But waiting a few years is not a big problem. It is safe enough that any patient that can walk and is generally decent health can undergo ELT without concern.

There is not age restriction for the use of EVLT. At your age the risk is not different than at any other particular age.

Age is not a significant issue. The procedure should be done when there is a medical need. Some active patients in their late 80s benefit considerably if they have pain and swelling due to venous insufficiency.
