Is varicose vein surgery, treatments, or spider vein treatments covered by insurance?
I have some friends who’ve had varicose and spider veins treated, some with surgery and some with injections. Some people said that insurance covered it but others said that it didn’t. What determines insurance coverage for vein treatments?
Coverage by the insurance companies is specific to their own guidelines and your policy. Commonly, there is coverage for symptomatic varicose veins (once conservative treatment has been done). Sclerotherapy for spider veins is usually a non-covered service as it is considered cosmetic by most payers.
