You need to be evaluated by your treating physician. He/She should be able to determine why you are experiencing such symptoms when wearing compression stockings. It is possible that the hose do not fit properly.

Return to whomever fit you for the compression stockings and have them checked. Properly fitting hose should not cause a "pins and needles" sensation in the feet.

Pins and needles, numbness, tingling, and extreme pain are abnormal when associated with compression hose. You should take the hose off and contact your vein care physician immediately. Your stockings are too tight and may be improperly fitted.

If the compression stockings present problems, such as pins and needles, discontinue their use. However, if the hose are necessary (say if they've been prescribed by a physician or are being used following vein treatment), have them remeasured. It sounds as if they may be too tight.

You should be remeasured by an experienced fitter to ensure the compression hose are the correct size, style, and gradient. There are many strengths of hose available, but which one is appropriate for your case will be determined by your treating physician. While some compression stockings are inexpensive and can be purchased over-the-counter, they often tend to be restrictive, less breathable, less durable, and less supportive. A good quality medical grade compression hose will offer more support, comfort, and durability. Still, I would be interested in knowing why you are wearing them. Is it due to a venous problem?

I have been confronted with this complaint before and usually it is due to the compression stockings being too tight. You need proper fitting support hose.
