Muscle Pain, Tendernous, and Spasms after Sclerotherapy

I had my right leg treated 4 days ago & since day 1 I have experienced muscle pain & tenderness in my calf. Occasionally, I have muscle spasms & today my ankle hurts as though it is sprained. It has been difficult to walk. Is this normal or serious?

What you are experiencing is not normal. Although it is not uncommon for people to have a little discomfort post sclerotherapy, it normally goes away within 24-36 hrs. Your complaints appear to be worsening over time. Although uncommon, I would be concerned that you have developed a blood clot as a result of the treatment. I would check with your PCP an have that checked just to make sure this is not what happened.

It is not unusual to have some discomfort after sclerotherapy, however you should contact your provider and he should repeat a Doppler ultrasound to make sure there are not clot in the deep veins.

Difficult to determine whether there is something deeper going on. Should
have an ultrasound done to make sure no DVT.

These would be extremely unusual complications after sclerotherapy. You did not mention what type of sclerotherapy, whether it was for just superficial spider veins or were they treatments for larger varicose veins with a foamed solution. You should, however, see your treating physician for an ultrasound examination asap.

Not the usual.
Contact your provider, you may need a check for blood clot depending on what procedure was done.

This is not normal. You should follow up with the physician who injected your veins for an evaluation to rule out DVT or some other reason for the discomfort.
