I guess I am not clear as to what "wound" is running. If you had an ulcer at presentation and had a varicose vein procedure to treat the "wound" then some drainage wound be normal for a while, at least until it healed. If you are referring to the incisions made to remove the varicose veins "running" or draining, this might be normal for a day or so, but should not continue beyond 48 hours. If so, I would suggest a return visit to your Doctor for reassessment.

Running? Do you mean oozing fluid? Pinkish fluid is normal for the first 48hrs after an ablation or ambulatory phlebectomy. Anything past that, I'd say it should be checked by your provider.

Depends on the type of treatment done. After ambulatory phlebectomy, the incisions might bleed for up to 2 days but after two days, all bleeding should stop. Anesthetic will also ooze out for a few days as well. If it continues for more than 3 days, call and make a follow-up appointment.

What do you mean by running? Can you please be more specific?

It can be normal to have a slight drainage after any surgical procedure. However, I would check with your surgeon just to make sure that you are not infected or developing a seroma which, in turn, can get infected. This is one of the reasons that I never cut on anyone when performing my varicose vein treatments. For whatever reason, the public and many docs tend to believe that the only way to treat a patient's vein issues is to cut on them. Any doc who knows anything about vein treatments will tell you that you do not need to cut to effectively treat a patient's vein issues. Docs who do not do a lot or know a lot about vein treatments, will cut.

Some drainage is normal after a phlebectomy. It should resolve after a day or two. If the wound continues to drain, see the physician who treated you.

This is not normal. Please see the physician who treated you.

Post-closure procedures wounds can drain. There are several reasons for this, including leakage of tumescent fluid through the insertion sites or microphlebectomy sites. Swelling post-procedure can cause wounds to leak, and inadequate compression can also lead to leakage. It is not normal for wounds to leak post varicose vein treatments, but it is an accepted occurrence.
