New large veins appeared after sclerotherapy.

I had sclerotherapy a week ago and I noticed that new large veins appeared that weren't there before, and that the treated ones haven't fully disappeared yet. Is it a side effect of sclerotherapy? What seemed to cause the problem? Thanks.

You need to have Ultrasound testing of the venous system, which may find venous insufficiency. If so you may need ablation procedure(s).You need to see a vein specialist doctor.

Could be that you have other underlying venous insufficiency as well. See your provider an ultrasound may be in order.

Some smaller veins can form after sclerotherapy. If you have larger
veins that appear after sclerotherapy, that is most likely from other
reasons than sclerotherapy.

If new large veins appeared so soon after sclerotherapy, I would be concerned that you may have underlying reflux. You should have a venous reflux exam if this has not been done. Sclerotherapy tends to look worse before getting better and takes 4 to 6 weeks to see improvement.
