Painful spot and hematoma

I had sclerotherapy 1 week ago. Painful, swollen, hematoma(black) is blood trapped? There is also redness and new blue veins around the spot. Went to a dermatologist and he said it would take 2 months to heal. I'm afraid it wont heal nice and there will be pigmentation. Are there alternative treatment options?

Small hematomas can appear after sclerotherapy. They can be drained
easily. Redness should go away in a few weeks. Blue veins can
sometimes appear after sclerotherapy. It takes a few weeks/months for
pigmentation to disappear.

They may be able to drain the blood out. This happens in around 30 % of people and usually goes away over 6 to 12 months. I would ask if they can possibly drain some of the trapped blood which may speed healing.

You may be describing trapped blood which often can be partially removed very easily with an 18 gauge needle and massage of the area. You would need to ask your physician about this option.

It could be trapped blood, and usually this is not dangerous. Sometimes this trapped blood can be drained and this can resolve the problem quicker, (and decrease the pigmentation) but you'll have to check with your provider to see if this is feasible in your case.

Early evacuation (drainage) of a hematoma usually improves it significantly. Sclerotherapy tends to look worse before it looks better. Would recommend evacuation of hematoma and allow 4 to 6 weeks for sclerotherapy to heal.

If there is trapped blood it should be released (a slightly larger needle is inserted into the area). If not released there is a good chance you will develop brown staining of the skin. Additionally, sclerotherapy can take an average of 3-5 treatments to resolve and area best done in an experienced vascular/vein treatment office who can treat all the "feeder" reticular veins as well as the surface spider veins.
