PE after microphlebectomy

I've have PE after this procedure. I'm currently on Dabigatran 150 mg 2/day for 3 months. I never had DVT before and I'm very active . I'm very nervous how long I'm in danger of another PE related to the same proc.

Continue with Dabigatran (Pradexa). Your physician may want to evaluate you with a hypercoagulable work up.

While you are on Dabigatran you risk factor is low. However I would recommend you be tested for inherited clotting disorders (thrombophilia panel). Wearing compression hose on both legs would be advisable and a knee high hose measured and fitted to your legs is advisable.

Generally the risk is very very low once on appropriate therapy. Which you are on by the way. Are they considering oral warfarin pills as well? You might ask about changing to those instead of the injection. It might be an option for you.

Pulmonary embolism after microphlebectomy seems to be very unlikely. I have never heard of such a complication and suspect that it is unrelated to the procedure. Questions about your specific clinical circumstances need to be directed to your treating physicians.

You seem to be on adequate anticoagulation and, usually, for a PE one year of anticoagulation is recommended. Your chances of developing a 2nd PE are low but you would be best to discuss this with your treating physician.
