In our practice, we instruct patients to wear compression hose (20-30 mmHg) for 24 hours without taking them off after sclerotherapy. Patients must wear them for 2 more days during waking hours. Different providers may require alternative instructions for wearing the hose. You can never wear the hose too much.

At least 5 days is best. The purpose is to get the damaged vein inner walls to fuse and thereby shorten the healing time.

I usually tell my patients to wear their stockings for one week after spider vein treatment, including reticular veins, or 3-5 days for spider veins only. However, you should wear compression stockings for as long as
the doctor who performed your treatment instructed you to.

Usually about one week of daily use is sufficient if the size of the treated vein is less than 1mm in diameter, and you had sclerotherapy injection. What seems to be more important is continued stocking usage in the first 24 hours after treatment, even in the shower. This allows the vein to be properly compressed and closed.
If the treated vein is deeper, varicose vein diameter from 1-3 mm, then I recommend 48 hours of continued compression stockings, followed by just one week of daily compression stocking usage.

It depends on the type of spider vein you have and whether there is underlying venous insufficiency. Call your treating physician if you are uncertain, as time in support hose will help make your procedure safe and effective.

Yes, some newer studies show that 3 weeks may even be better to prevent venous matting, which is very fine veins forming around the areas of injection.

It is controversial how much the compression stockings will help. At least a week after the treatment would be beneficial. For sure it will not hurt.

I generally don't require a full two weeks of compression stockings after sclerotherapy, but this depends on many factors, like the size of the treated veins. I would suggest discussing this with the physician/nurse who performed the procedure.

There is not really a universally accepted duration for wearing your compression stockings after sclerotherapy. It is important however to wear them for some period of time. They help compress those vessels that have been treated so as to make them smaller and thus easier to close down. 2 -3 weeks is a reasonable period of time.
