I had varicose vein surgery two years ago. My legs hurt terribly every day. Is this normal?
No, it is not normal for a patient's legs to hurt two years after varicose vein surgery. You should see another doctor and get a second opinion.

No, you need an evaluation to determine whether your symptoms are vascular (venous or arterial) or due to a neurologic or musculoskeletal etiology.

It's possible that you have new veins that have developed in the last two years. You will need to have another ultrasound to find out the source of that pain.

No, I do not think your legs should hurt you at the end of the day. I have no way of knowing what sort of "varicose vein surgery" you had, but you should have copies of the operative notes and other office notes for your records. I would recommend a new, complete venous evaluation that includes a venous insufficiency ultrasound, examination and review of your records by a qualified vein specialist. There might be something that can be done to give you some relief.

You should not have severe pain two years after varicose vein surgery. However, more information about your vein surgery would be needed in order to advise you further.

This is not "normal." You should have your condition reevaluated.

If your surgery was successful and complete and if the pain in your legs was from your varicose veins, then you should not be having discomfort. It is possible your surgery was incomplete or did not take care of all of the vein problems. However, it is also possible that the symptoms you are experiencing are being caused by another medical problem. I would recommend you follow up with the vein doctor to check. I hope this helps.

This is not normal. You need to have a full evaluation to see what is causing the pain. Your problem may have nothing to do with the prior varicose vein surgery.

It depends. A vein specialist can perform an ultrasound to detect current venous insufficiency. You could have pain from musculoskeletal or lymphatic disorders. Is the pain relieved when wearing gradient compression stockings 30-40 mmHg? What about when you are standing, sitting, resting?
