Trapped blood keep coming back in my varicose veins

I had EVLT followed by sclerotherapy for my variocose veins. I developed large amounts of trapped blood in the treated veins. How many times should you have to keep aspirating the blood. It keeps coming back after 4 attempts relieve hard lumps?

In my practice, we typically don't inject the varicose veins. I am a surgeon and will remove them cosmetically using microphlebectomy (through very small punctures using a small hook). This avoids situations such as yours. Basically the varicose veins are gone. However, sometimes when we perform cosmetic sclerotherapy this can happen. Usually only once or twice. If this is repeatedly happening to you I would recommend your physician do a thorough ultrasound examination to see if there is a small perforator or reticular vein feeding into these veins and make sure these are injected. However, you may want to consider have the procedure we mentioned if the veins are large.

Generally they will resolve after a couple of treatments. You might ask about a micro phlebectomy of the veins to resolve this once and for all. Not all MDs perform this procedure though.

In my experience evacuating trapped blood takes on an average of one to three attempts. If it is still present and uncomfortable after this then you should consider evacuation under local anesthesia so that the treating physician can be more aggressive. Wet heat also helps to soften the areas.
