Can you please detail some of the restrictions after EVLT?
Your doctor will have recommendations for you. In general, there are no absolute restrictions.

This will vary from surgeon to surgeon. In my clinic the patients are placed in a light dressing with compression hose over the top. After 48 hours they can remove this and just wear the hose during the day for a total of 7 days. I do ask that they avoid strenuous abdominal exercise, bike riding, boot camp-type exercise for 7-10 days and gradually work up to the full routine after that. Most people go back to work in 1-2 days. A little longer if they are in very physically active jobs.

Avoid swimming and strenuous exercise such as high impact aerobics, weight training, or running for 2-3 weeks. Walking daily is encouraged and promotes speedy healing. We recommend walking for at least 20 minutes, two to three times a day for the first two weeks. Avoid prolonged standing for the first week and elevate your leg for 5-10 minutes periodically throughout the day. Avoid excessive exposure to the sun during the next two weeks, but if you do, wear sunscreen (at least SPF 30) on your treated leg. Refrain from swimming in heated pools, whirlpools, saunas or taking a hot bath for at least 2 weeks following the procedure. You may shower and clean your treated leg with warm water.

For endovenous laser ablation alone without microphlectomies there are very few restrictions. I recommend no strenuous activities for 3 days and no hot tubs or saunas for 3 days. I would like compressions stockings for 10 days to 2 weeks after the procedure.

The main restriction is to avoid heat to the treated leg for a couple of weeks: no hot baths, Jacuzzis, steams, saunas or heating pads. Walking is encouraged. Heavy weight training/exersise is usually avoided during first week.

Normal activity should be ok, including walking, standing and house chores. This activity can essentially be resumed right away. Rigorous exercise and heavy lifting will need to be delayed by 1 week. Typically showering is ok immediately as well. I advise stocking use on the leg for 1 week after the procedure.

Not many, I advise stocking use on the leg for 2 weeks after the procedure and avoidance of real strenuous activity for about a week. Light workouts and brisk walking is encouraged.

One of the biggest advantages of EVLT it that there are minimal to no restrictions. In my practice these are the instructions:
1. No heavy exercise the day of the procedure. Bedrest IS NOT necesary and should actually be avoided.
2. Regular activities begining the day after the procedure.
3. Compression stockings for the treated leg for 10-14 days after the procedure during the day, can be removed at night to sleep.
That's it..., very simple and easy.
