From your question your symptoms are 5 months out since your procedure. This is most unusual. Following the procedure it may take 6 to 8 weeks for the soreness and hard areas to resolve. If you have had discomfort for 5 months or just started with new discomfort. you should follow up with your treating physician. Nerve discomfort can occur following this procedure and may take up to 1year to resolve.

Numbness can be from cutaneous or skin nerve damage that will improve over time. Soreness this far out is likely associated with a hard, but closed vein, or an open vein near the closed area. It is difficult to answer this question adequately without seeing how much of the Saphenous was ablated or what additional treatment was done. There may still be more work to do on that leg. So it is important to follow up with the physician who performed the procedure and to be checked with an ultrasound.

Follow up with your physician that performed the procedure. An ultrasound will be needed to sort things out. The numbness may be related to nerve damage which is usually temporary and resolves in 90% of patients by 6 months.

Return to the person who performed your procedure requesting re-evaluation. A clinical exam and probably another ultrasound would be necessary to sort out what is happening.

Difficult to say from your description but should be evaluated by the MD. Likely not anything serious though.

The spotty numbness is not unusual and the aching and sore to touch are may be a superficial thrombophlebitis. You should call and schedule a follow up appointment with your treating physician.

Various possibilities exist. It could be recurrent veins, or rarely nerve irritation from the procedure, although that usually occurs at the time of the procedure, not later. Reopening of the ablated saphenous vein or recurrent veins from another feeder vein are more likely causes although even these are uncommon.
