What can I do about the top of stocking digging into my calf?

The stockings fit but the tops of them dig into my skin and is painful. Is there anything I can do to stop it? Can I put an elastic bandage or something under them to help with that?

Correct fitting hose should not dig into your thigh. However, sometimes, especially with a fuller thigh, there can be some discomfort. My nurses have sometimes used something underneath such as cotton pads, ABD pads or even a panty liner (sticky side to the hose). A soft bandage would be alright but it should not be on tight. You can also vary the location of the top of the hose during the day to give areas relief.

You should probably look into a better brand of stockings or get thigh high
stockings which may fit better depending on the shape of your legs

If the stockings dig into your skin and are painful, then they Don't Fit properly. You need a different pair of stockings.

My vascular surgeon did an ultrasound and prescribed endovenous laser ablation. She also suggested that I wear compression stockings after the procedure. However, due to severe psoriasis and eczema on my feet, I cannot wear full-coverage stockings that cover them. They must always be in wet dressings, but cannot be fully covered. Would footless compression stockings be just as effective as full-coverage hose following the procedure?
