What is the difference between VNUS and EVLT?

Both procedures sound like they treat the greater saphenous vein. So what's the difference between them?

Both are the same end result, destruction of the saphenous vein to improve circulation due to reflux. It is typically personal preference by the Surgeon. I prefer Laser (EVLT).

The end result for both are similar-closure of the refluxing valves and heating of the vein wall to seal it. EVLT uses laser energy which is basically a hot light and VNUS uses radiofrequency.

The difference is the type of energy. Laser uses the light of laser, while VNUS uses radiofrequency ablation (RFA) which is basically electrical energy. Overall, both work very well.

EVLT is laser and VNUS Closure is radio-frequency. They are very similar, just the technology is a little different. They do accomplish the same goal.

Ijust had VNUS closure surgery 4 days ago and the pain is minimal. But, I did notice today it feels like there is a throbbing or heartbeat, almost like a twitching or pumping in my upper leg. It doesn't hurt. Is this normal? What's causing the pulsing/throbbing? Also, am I able to tan (tanning bed or stand up) if I wear my support hose so my leg is not directly exposed to the light, and if I don't use tanning lotion on the leg?? When will the fat, worm-like veins go down or look better?
