What, if any, complications can occur using the ELVeS?

I have previously had sclerotherapy for my veins with excellent results. Now, a doctor, said my valve is problematic so the Laser should be used. I guess I'm a little nervous about the procedure.

There is a very low risk of developing a blood clot (DVT) after an EVLA/ thermal ablation procedure. You are more at risk if you are a smoker, sedentary or have a history of a blood clot in the past. Wearing compression stockings after the procedure and walking for 15-20 minutes 3-4 times a day will help prevent this as well as avoiding any long trips the week following your procedure. You will typically be brought back in to the office for an ultrasound to check for DVT the week after the procedure. Overall, thermal ablation is a very low risk procedure that can give great results to those with venous reflux disease.

Endovenous laser ablation is extremely safe and is used to treat persons with symptomatic venous insufficiency. Symptoms include lower extremity pain, swelling, aching, heaviness, varicose veins as well as night cramps and restless legs. You may have only few of these symptoms to experience benefit from the treatment. Potential risks for the procedure include bleeding, infection, skin burn, blood clot, nerve damage and darkening of the skin. All of these are rare.

In good hands ELVeS (Endo Laser Vein System) is a very safe procedure with very low chances of complications. Two rare but possible complications that are reported in the medical literature are:
Deep vein Thrombosis, a clot forming in the femoral vein if the laser fiber was not properly positioned. The medical literature reports that this may occur in approximately one or two in endovenous procedures completed. Another rare but possible complication that can occur is a skin ulcer if the vein is too superficial and/or high energy is delivered. This is an ever rarer complication but it has been reported to have occurred in at least one of the thousands of ELVeS procedures performed.
