Is a smaller ultrasound used to be able to see tiny spider veins? What if the veins are on my cheeks, can I still have them use an ultrasound?
We use a GE ultrasound machine. We do not inject facial veins.

Ultrasound guided sclerotherapy is only for deeper veins, communicating/perforator veins not visible on the surface or with an illuminator light. On your face, the fine veins are best treated by an experienced practitioner with the right lasers. Tiny spider veins on the legs are treated with sclerotherapy injections and/or laser. However the "feeding" veins below the surface must be injected as well or veins will re-open.

There are many types of ultrasound machines that can be used for guiding sclerotherapy. The smaller ones are usually the newer and better machines. The most important factor in the procedure is not the machine but the doctor doing the procedure. Cheek veins do not require ultrasonic guidance.

Ultrasound is only used to visualize veins that are not apparent on the surface. So your smaller spider veins, etc. would not need ultrasound to treat. Ultrasound is simply used to better see the veins. It is not a treatment source.

Ultrasound guided sclerofoam is a procedure done to eliminate the so called tributary branches and peforators. Occasionally is used to eliminate some of the superficial "large" varicosities. The equipment used is an ultrasound machine. These veins are for the most part located at least 0.5-1 cm below the skin level.
Spider veins are superficial and no ultrasound aid is needed. No ultrasound guided procedure is done for the facial spider veins.

Ultrasound guidance is not needed for treating spider veins.

Ultrasound is not used for tiny veins. If you have tiny veins on your cheeks, I would recommend the "veinwave" procedure.
