What level of compression stocking I should get?

I have been running lately and while I run, my left foot gets tingly and wants to fall asleep and then throughout the day from my knee down to my toes it tingles off and on. I believe compression stockings will help.

Compression stockings will only help if the underlying cause of your symptoms is from superficial venous insufficiency — varicose veins. "Tingling" is not a common symptom associated with varicose veins. I would see your primary care physician before you purchase compression hose. You would not want to make your symptoms worse with the pressure of compression hose.

Your symptoms may indicate some nerve irritation possibly originating in the low back. I would recommend you have your back evaluated for sciatic nerve irritation or compression. Compression may/may not help.

I would recommend seeing a vascular surgeon before treating yourself. Nerve symptoms are not typical of vein problems. Athletes can have arterial or nerve compression that require specialized tests to diagnose.

What you describe may be neurologic problem like a pinched nerve , it could also be related to venous symptoms I would consider seeing a doctor about your symptoms, however you could certainly try a compression stocking to see if it helps.

Does not sound typical for venous symptoms but would try 15-20mmhg. as a start for daily use.

At least 20 to 30 mmHg. That should suffice.

My vascular surgeon did an ultrasound and prescribed endovenous laser ablation. She also suggested that I wear compression stockings after the procedure. However, due to severe psoriasis and eczema on my feet, I cannot wear full-coverage stockings that cover them. They must always be in wet dressings, but cannot be fully covered. Would footless compression stockings be just as effective as full-coverage hose following the procedure?
