What solutions are more likely to cause telangiectatic matting and hyperpigmentation?

I cannot tolerate STS due to severe telangiectatic matting that never goes away without treatment. Are there other solutions less likely to cause these problems?

Some of the risks of sclerotherapy include telangiectatic matting, staining of the skin, and skin ulceration. We use a dilute solution of STS to treat the blue reticular (feeder) veins. We use Glycerin and Sclerodex for the spider veins. I rarely get matting. I find there is very little matting with Glycerin and Sclerodex.

Other options are hypertonic saline and polydocanol. Not known if they will do any better. Just have to try. I would suggest polydocanol.

It is not necessarily related to a particular solution. There
Are many "theories" about what causes matting. Pressure of injection, foam use in smaller vessels, too strong a solution for size of vessels, aggressive or overtreatment and experience of the injector. However some people are more prone to this and it may be a genetic predisposition. Polidochanol in low doses seems to have the least side effect for staining and other complicarioms but I think experience is the best way to go to avoid problems.

Polidocanol is one such solution and is my standard for injection
sclerotherapy. Less matting, less discoloration or staining and less pain.

The other good drug available for injections is polidocanol. They all have a risk of matting and pigmentation.

Polidocanol or glycerine can be used as alternatives to STS. Matting can occur from any sclerotherapy solution. See someone with experience doing sclerotherapy.
