What to do to speed up the resorbing of large lumpy sclerosed veins?

A month ago, I had scleropathy of very large varicose veins behind my knee, and am left with hard lumpy veins. My doctor doesn't want to drain them believing it is part of the healing process. Can I do anything else to speed up the healing?

The lumpy heart veins are often trapped blood, and draining them can make a significant difference. I do not view it as part of the healing process.

Other than drainage and compression. With time they will resolve, but It can take a few months.

Evacuation of the thrombosed veins seems reasonable. Other alternatives would be anti inflammatory agents and warm compresses.

If trapped blood is present following sclerotherapy, a simple incision and drainage procedure is usually helpful to speed healing and improve any related discomfort.

As a surgeon, I would remove these with cosmetic microphlebectomy (a very small puncture through which the vein is removed.). Results are instant.
However, if you have a hard lumpy vein post injection, most likely you have "trapped" blood. It can cause discomfort and if left insitu, can cause hyper pigmentation. We would remove this by puncturing over the vein in several areas and removing the trapped blood inside. It may need to be repeated. The relief is instant and the risk of hyper pigmentation is reduced.

No much you can do to speed up the process. Try to wear compression stockings. You can take anti-inflamatories if they hurt. In 2-4 weeks will look and feel better.

Routine daily use of elastic compression hose, usually in the 30-40 mm Hg compresssion range, is helpful. Some of these veins can improve faster with needle punctures to assist evacuation of coagulum from the veins. Others contain coagulum of a more rubber-like consistency that is difficult to evacuate.
