Stents are not routinely used for veins, they are experimental for the most part.

There are several different types of stents that can be used during leg surgery, and some are longer than others. The surgeon could quite possibly use several stents if he/she deems it necessary; sometimes one stent is sufficient.

Stents would be used for the artery and not the vein.

Stents come in a variety of diameters and lengths, but during some venous stenting procedures, more than one stent may be used in an overlapping fashion. This will depend on the characteristics of the lesion being treated.
