TED hose is 10-15 mmHg and only for bed-ridden patients, never for vein treatment patients. Running compression socks are labeled, usually 20-30 mmHg.

If you are referring to standard TED hose (or Thrombo Embolic Deterrent hose) compared to store bought or over-the-counter running compression socks, the TED hose has a higher compression. TED hose usually has a compression of 20-30 mmHg, while over-the-counter compression hose will normally have compressions ranging from 12-20 mmHg.

TED hose are typically designed for people who are inactive post a procedure and are 8-15 or 15-20 mmHg pressure which is considered subclinical. They are mostly considered a "disposable" product and therefore lesser quality fabric, less stretch. Running hose will vary by brand. We carry Sigvaris performance socks which are 20-30 mmHg pressure.
A good quality medical compression will be easier to apply and remove and much more durable and comfortable.

It depends on the running socks you are thinking of purchasing. Still, when compared to the TED hose (which are pretty worthless), running socks are best.

TED stockings have a compression of around 20mmHg, and compression stockings can vary in compression (going as high as 40mmHg). For running, 20-30 mmHg is about the right compression.

My vascular surgeon did an ultrasound and prescribed endovenous laser ablation. She also suggested that I wear compression stockings after the procedure. However, due to severe psoriasis and eczema on my feet, I cannot wear full-coverage stockings that cover them. They must always be in wet dressings, but cannot be fully covered. Would footless compression stockings be just as effective as full-coverage hose following the procedure?
