Who treats venous malformations and how are they treated in the labia area?

Can surgery be done to remove Pelvic Congestion Syndrome for good? I have a venous malformation in the labia. A sonographic imaging was done. There is a flow noted within this dilated vein which changes with respiratory. I was told the venous malformations will return if treated. Who treats this and what method is used?

Usually labial varicosities can just be treated by sclerotherapy, and this can be done in the office by anyone with experience in this area

It is most important to see a specialist that treats venous disease. It could be an interventional radiologist or vascular surgeon. They will do a more complete evaluation and likely perform an MRI to better identify the connections of the blood vessels. After that, they can discuss with you the options to eliminate the abnormal vessels.

A small number of vascular surgeons and interventional radiologists treat pelvic congestion syndrome and some of them treat venous malformations of the labia. A few phlebologists treat venous malformations of the labia. The average physician treating veins does not treat these conditions, so you will need to research through the internet and then ask questions. Foam sclerotherapy usually is the best treatment for venous malformations of the labia and lower extremities once one has excluded significant underlying venous problems. Seek a physician who is experienced in treating these problems.

Coils are usually placed to treat PCS and if the labial varices are not treated indirectly then sclerotherapy is used to treat labial varices. Interventional radiologists do many treatments such as these using pelvic coils and other varicose vein treatments.
