Why do I have more discomfort after my VNUS procedure?

About four months ago (March 22) I had the VNUS procedure, and then a few weeks after that (April 5) I had a second one. Both legs were treated. Prior to the procedure I was very physically active (running and P90 X workouts). Now I have heaviness, tightness and spasms in my legs that I never experienced before. My legs are worse than before! Why is this happening?

I can't explain why you're having these symptoms, but it is clearly not normal. I would return to the doctor that treated you or get a second opinion.

Yes, you can have soreness for several months post-VNUS closure; however, this is normal. The larger the vein, the longer it takes for it to heal and be absorbed by your body.

This is certainly not a common occurrence but I have seen it happen before. There are several possible explanations for this. If you are thin and the saphenous vein is close to the skin, as the tumescence resolves, you will feel the treated saphenous vein under the skin. This can give the symptoms that you describe. Secondly, if not enough tumescence was used, the skin overlying the vein could have been irritated from the closure procedure, leading to your symptoms. If you have areas that are tender and palpable they can be evacuated under local anesthesia to give relief. Also wet heat and analgesics and anti-inflammatories will help. You should follow up with your treating physician.

Ijust had VNUS closure surgery 4 days ago and the pain is minimal. But, I did notice today it feels like there is a throbbing or heartbeat, almost like a twitching or pumping in my upper leg. It doesn't hurt. Is this normal? What's causing the pulsing/throbbing? Also, am I able to tan (tanning bed or stand up) if I wear my support hose so my leg is not directly exposed to the light, and if I don't use tanning lotion on the leg?? When will the fat, worm-like veins go down or look better?
