Why do they have to do the entire leg from top to bottom, when the veins are just below my knee?

I only have the veins below my knee he is doing my whole leg for 3400 cash, is this an accurate price?

Varicose veins are caused by underlying reflux (back flow from damaged valves) and treatment is to seal the affected vein and remove the surface varciose veins at the same setting. If you are symptomatic and have tried conservative treatment (compression hose, Advil/Aleve or aspirin, elevating your legs, exercise etc) you are eligible for insurance coverage by most plans including Medicare and Medicaid. I do not do laser ablation on the entire leg, usually just the upper portion from just below the knee the the groin. This can reduce post operative complications such as nerve damage in the lower leg. If there is still some reflux in the lower leg this can be dealt with safely with injections. Pricing for procedures is regional/city to city etc. However, just for an ablation, this is a high price anywhere, in my opinion.

The entire saphenous vein is treated from the uppermost portion in the groin to about the upper third of the calf. There are about 15 to 20 valves along this length. If only the lower valves are treated, then reflux will occur over time in the upper valves leading to recurrent varicose veins. The price of the procedure varies with the surgeon (It typically ranges from 2 to 4 thousand dollars per leg).

The thigh vein is generally the source of the problem below and it's important to treat the source vein to prevent recurrence.
That sounds about right for pricing of a procedure such as this. I'm assuming a vein ablation with microphlebectomies.

The veins below the knee that you see on the outside are connected to the
vein beneath the skin and fat which are the actual leaking veins. You must
treat the vein from the groin to at least the origin of the varicose veins
(in this case just below your knee). The cash price you were quoted varies
around the country depending on cost of living and other concerns but
appears to be in line.
