I recently had sclerotherapy & have been wearing my compression hose as directed. However, I noticed I got a small run/hole at the bottom of one of the feet (near the heel). Will this ruin the overall compression of the hose and affect my results?
No need to worry. A run in your compression hosiery will not - in any way - adversely affect the long-term results of treatment. One of the reasons compression hosiery is worn after sclerotherapy is to limit distention of the vein after treatment. This reduces the amount of blood that is able to return into the vein after treatment. The less blood in the vein reduces the time it takes for the body to absorb the treated (denatured) vein and any blood that remained within it.

As long as the hole is tiny, they should not compromise the results of your treatment. You should be fine.

I don't think that would compromise the stocking.

This should not make any difference in your sclerotherapy results. If this run goes up the leg, it may mildly reduce the compression or the stocking, but overall should not make any difference in sclerotherapy results.

This will reduce the effectiveness of the hose, and you should replace it.

The compression stocking should still work fine.

It should not. You can stitch the run/hole up.

Absolutely not. Continue wearing those compression stockings a bit more.

Many of our patients develop runs in their hose, and typically it will not affect the compression if the run is small. We recommend applying and removing them wearing gloves. The location of the hole will definitely not affect your. My patients tell me that fabric glue (from a fabric store) works well to control this.

Probably not, but I recommend that you get a fresh pair of compression stockings.

A small run, especially on the foot, will not compromise your sclerotherapy.

A small run/hole along the heel of your compression stocking should not affect sclerotherapy results. However, if the run/hole is large, you should consider purchasing a new pair so that you can get the compression you need to assist with healing.

Yes, I suggest you purchase a new pair, as the full/complete compression is very important.

A small hole or run in your hose should not compromise the overall efficacy of your compression hose. I would just suggest that you take care to not allow the run or hole to get any larger.

No, the hole should not cause a problem.

The run/hole as you describe will not affect your sclerotherapy results. However, if you have any further treatments you should get a new pair of stockings since most likely the run will extend and you will lose some of the compression.

No, a tear should not cause a problem.

No, a run in your compression stockings should not comprise the procedure.
