Will vein reappear with a second pregnancy?

After my first child, I suffered from varicose veins. I didn't gain much weight during the pregnancy, but it was mostly due to hormones. After having EVLA and sclero treatment, I am afraid to have a second child. Will my varicose veins reappear?

Yes, new veins will appear after each pregnancy. Seek vein treatment after pregnancies.

If you already had the treatment for varicose veins, the chances are
less for you to get larger varicose veins, though you can have some
new varicose veins during pregnancy.

Venous insufficiency is a chronic, progressive problem associated with vein walls which slowly stretch due most to the pressure of gravity on the blood in the veins. New varicose veins will form with time. You have some control over this process by maintaining normal body weight, avoiding prolonged sitting or standing, moderate exercise, routine daily use of support hose, and by getting significant venous problems treated before they become severe. Pregnancy will accelerate the development of venous insufficiency and varicose veins, but this rarely is a reason not to have another child. It generally is best to get significant problems treated before becoming pregnant again.

This is possible. Your genetic makeup predisposes you to forming varicose veins.

Your question is very good. Theoretically if your problem of reflux has been properly corrected you should not have recurrent varicose veins. I would strongly recommend to wear compression stockings as much as possible all along your pregnancy. You will benefit by elevating your legs as often as you can.
Best wishes for a healthy baby... and healthy legs.

The reason for varicose vein formation is valvular insufficiency. If you have had EVLT and sclerotherapy for the incompetent valves and varicose veins, hopefully you will not have a recurrence with another pregnancy. There is always the risk of new varicose veins forming during pregnancy from different veins developing incompetent valves.

It's possible. I would discuss with your doctor but don't let this ruin the joy of having another child. It can be treated. thx. James

Not usually related to the veins treated, new ones in other areas can occasionally develop but not always by any means.

If treated completely they should not return but new ones could develop.

If your procedure was successful, there should not be a recurrence of the same problem. However, this is typically an inherited condition (mother, father, grandparents etc) and pregnancy hormones dilate your vessels to accommodate the pregnancy.

I would recommend you wear a good quality compression stocking from the beginning of the pregnancy throughout. Start with 20-30 mmHg thigh-length. You may want to increase to 30-40 mmHg toward the end of the second trimester. Some women like the maternity pantyhose at this stage. This won't "prevent" the problem, but will certainly slow down the process and reduce the severity IF it is going to occur in different veins.
