I've seen the procedure advertised at medspas, and wondered who is qualified to perform it legally.
A physician should perform the procedure, but they do not have to be board certified in phlebology.
It is best to be treated by a board certified phlebologist.
Ideally you should seek for a phlebologist to perform those procedures.
Any physician can perform sclerotherapy and in some states nurses or PA'S can so this. However, a vein specialist should be the most experienced in this procedure.
It varies from state to state.
The important issue is the qualifications and experience of the person who is treating you.
My advice is always to see a Board Certified Vascular Surgeon who specializes in venous disease, to treat a vascular problem.
Ideally you should seek for a phlebologist, someone with the experience and training to perform those procedures. In experienced hands you have the best chance of optimal results.
