I bought a new stocking the same size i had before but the material is much thicker. I tried it for a day last week and I have been in pain since then. First i thought it is my sciatic nerve but both of my legs hurt. For the first couple of days my bones hurt as well, but now my muscles hurt too. It is hard to sleep, stand up and to sit. When I stand up I feel like there is pressure on my feet.I am worried about possible nerve or muscle damage.
Properly fitted compression stockings will provide symptomatic relief.

Stockings that are too tight could potentially cause long term problems. Get remeasured by someone knowledgeable.

I would doubt that wearing too tight stockings for several days would cause any long term problems but they can certainly cause discomfort in the legs if they don't fit properly. I would stop wearing the support hose see a vein specialist for a full venous evaluation and consider getting a custom made stocking.

Since your complaints started immediately after wearing the new stockings for a day, it leads me to believe that you probably suffered a compression injury to your legs. The new stocking may have been too tight. Even though they are the "same size", your older stockings are probably stretched out some from wear. The amount of compression on your legs is probably a little less in the old pair c/w the new ones.

It is highly unlikely that properly prescribed and fitted compression stockings could cause muscle damage.

Compression hose are definitely not the most comfortable thing in the world to be wearing- but they should NOT cause you BONE and or Muscle pain. Maybe there is something else- an underlying issue causing you this discomfort?? Call your doctor and 1. make sure that you are wearing the correct size. They have custom fitters that should be available to measure you at any surgical supply company to ensure the proper fit. And 2. They should fit snug but not tight enough to cut off any circulation and cause you pain. Either way call your doctor- ask for a new prescription- check to see that it is the proper compression strength as well.
Good Luck to you.

The stockings are supposed to be tight, but if they are that uncomfortable, you may need to be refitted. Your legs should actually feel better when wearing them.

Just make sure that the size and compression grade match to your previous stockings. They can be same size but may be higher compression grade. Different manufacturers can also use different material and cause some problems. You can stick to the same brand you were using before if you were happy with your previous stockings.
