My knee is swollen on the inner side and it is very painful to walk. Are the spider veins causing my knee pain?

A lot of spider veins are popping up.

There are several things that could cause this problem. The most probable is the most easily resolved. If this is "trapped blood", then a quick and virtually painless extraction would immediately resolve this issue. This can be done on a walk in basis and is done at no charge to our patients.

Varicose veins may cause pain, tenderness and swelling. A complete evaluation by a vascular surgeon may better define the leg problem.

It is very difficult to say based on the information provided. Knee pain can be caused by vein issues, but it can just as easily be due to knee issues itself like ligament tears and cysts and so on. A physical exam is required to help clarify your question.

Spider veins should not cause knee pain. You should see a vein specialist for a venous evaluation and that person can then decide if your veins are contributing to your problem or something else.

No, usually spider veins will only cause some itching if anything. They by themselves are cosmetic. However, you may have an underlying venous disease which needs to be evaluated by an ultrasound at a qualified vein center. Your swelling in your knee may also be unrelated to venous disease.

I had sclerotherapy for spider veins performed two weeks ago on my leg. I have been in a great deal of pain since. All my sore spots are large veins in my foot/ankle. On a follow-up, I was told they injected them. When I asked why, I was told that every vein that they can see can be injected in the foot since I have so many. I have a hard time believing this and I now don't trust them. Is any of this true? Also, with so many large veins injected, how long before I can walk without pain?
