The goal of vein ablation is to relieve severe symptoms not responsive to compression therapy. If the clinical symptoms are minimal, the vein ablation is unlikely to improve them, and I would wait.

Your symptoms seem more consistent with knee changes (arthritis). If you do not feel comfortable going ahead at this time, wait. Many people have some degree of reflux in saphenous veins. In the absence of typical symptoms—aching, heaviness, cramping, painful varicose veins, etc.—I would observe you in my clinic to see if there is any progress. Wear your hose when sitting, standing or traveling for long periods, stay active, and wait and see.

My recommendation is to wait and get a second opinion if you have minimal symptoms and no varicose veins. Insurance company policies will not cover the operation for minimal symptoms.

If you have minimal symptoms as you describe, 0.6 seconds of reflux, then it is not likely that this degree of reflux is significant.

It is also NOT likely that is will relieve symptoms of burning, especially burning sensation in the posterior leg or thigh.

If you have no significant symptoms, there is no reason to treat. There is no emergency.
