How long does it usually take for the spider veins to go away?

Sclerotherapy . 4 answers . 2 years ago

I had injections done and it doesn't look like any of the spiders went away. This was a month ago. When can I expect to see a change. Also, is it safe to have this done while on Accutane?

6-8 weeks. Staining can last a bit longer, ask your provider.
Not aware of reactions with accuane, check with you provider as well.

Sclerotherapy treatments are ok while on Accutane but absolutely no light based (laser) treatments.
Effective sclerotherapy can take 3-5 treatments to resolve. However, the reticular or "feeder" veins should also be treated for maximum effect. If these are not treated, areas can reopen. That is why we see many patients coming from other centers where only topical spider veins are treated and pts say these come back quickly.

You should see some results within 2-4 weeks. Only a percentage of the
spiders will resolve and this depends in part on the strength of the
solution used. All factors need to be considered.

Sclerotherapy is safe while on accutane. Sclerotherapy is a process and usually requires several treatments over time. I recommend 6 weeks between sessions and I tell patients that with each treatment the veins will improve. It is unrealistic to think that all veins will resolve with one treatment. Following sclerotherapy some veins will resolve over 4 to 6 weeks, some will resolve immediately and some will need recurrent injections.
