Use of a tanning bed should not affect healing 3 weeks after an ablation procedure. There are other reasons related to longterm effects on the skin, however to be careful with tanning bed use.

I usually recommend NOT using a tanning bed or direct sun exposure. Any time you disrupt the skin (you have puncture sites) the UV rays can hyper pigment leaving a much darker spot.
While discussing this we also do not recommend tanning of any kind due to increased incidence of skin cancer, dermal damage and premature aging. I would recommend you use a good UVA/UVB sun protection when exposed outside and use a high quality self tanner such as Jane Iredale. You will appreciate it in years to come with better aging skin.

The patient would need to contact the office where they had the ablation.
Each physician may have a different set of post-op orders and instructions.

If you did not have microphlebectomies and your treated area is well healed then you can probably use the tanning bed. If you have any residual bruising or areas of discomfort or have had microphlebectomies then I would wait until all of these have healed.
