EVLA treatment worked, but the vein next to the repaired vein is now bulging. Will repairing too many veins hurt my vascular health?

I know that circulation is needed and I worry that repairing too many veins will hurt my vascular health. Should I be concerned? My family has a history of varicose veins.

Repairing all superficial venous reflux is the goal, unless your deep veins are obstructed.

These veins are "minor players." Don't be concerned. The system is the important one.

You may have residual varicose veins or perforator veins. If so, they can be safely treated. Reevaluation by an experienced vascular surgeon who specializes in these problems is advisable.

The bulging vein that you are now seeing is a direct result of the EVLT. Whenever you close a vein down, like you had done, you are redirecting blood flow. In this case, into the bulging vein. This is a normal response. What needs to be done is that you need to now have those other veins treated--not the vein that you already had treated. In so doing, you will actually make your venous circulation function even better.

The most common cause of vein issues is genetics. If you have refluxing veins and symptoms related to the reflux and a strong family history, then I would recommend correcting the problem. This will improve your vascular health, not hurt it.
