I had an EVLT with microphlebectomy on one leg three days ago. I was wondering if using a foam roller (a self-massage tool) is OK.

I have the OK from my doctor to do some short easy runs for the next two weeks. I usually do so before I run to help keep my muscles loose and warmed up. With the procedure, I wasn't sure if the pressure on my leg would be harmful or not (I would not directly roll the spots that were treated, just other spots on my leg). Is this possible?

I would not advise this until your incisions are healed. The rolling could open up the incisions. That is probably not a good idea.

I would not recommend you foam roll directly over a treated vein or phlebectomy site, as it may irritate the veins and delay healing. Feel free to use it over any untreated areas.

I am not quite sure about the extent of the phlebectomy or exactly how the foam roller works. I recommend consulting your surgeon.

Not recommended that you do that before the wounds heal. It would take 7-10 days for microphlebectomy incisions to heal.

A theoretical concern is also squeezing the 'closure' out of the vein like toothpaste. Although unlikley, this could be potentially fatal.

After 7-10 days, you can do whatever you like.
