I had an ablation done to the main vein. It's been 5 days, and I can feel big, hard-like balls in my thigh making it hard to walk. Is this normal?
This is my left leg. I had my right leg done a month ago, and I don't remember this much pain. It feels like the surgical area hardened and feels like fluid in my thigh, but I remember last time they said that your muscles will swell due to the pumping of fluid into my leg and that I need to work out the muscle. So now I'm not sure if it's the vein or the muscle I'm feeling. Should I call the doctor, or should I go to ER?

Yes that is normal, that hard spot you are feeling is the vein that was treated with the ablation. Basically what happens is the vein is cauterized shut, so there is no where for all that blood to go so it clots up and it just takes time for it to reabsorb into your body. But to put your mind at ease, it is always a good idea to check back in with your doctor to make sure everything is healing the way it is supposed to.

This is very common after ablation and it is likely the varicose veins closing, but you should call your doctor and get it checked to be sure.
