I still have a burning sensation where I had Sclerotherapy done to my ankle 2 weeks ago. It's so painful by the end of the night it keeps me up.

The veins are hard, but not discolored. I have to wear a different pair of sneakers when running because the vein by my ankle swells. Is this common? Will it go away with time? Thank you

This is hard question to answer and best addressed by whomever treated you. You should not have this pain.

You may have an inflammed vein from the treatment. This is called phlebitis and it can be quite painful. Some solution may have gone into a vein unintentionally. Low heat often, aspirin or ibuprofen several times per day can help. It should resolve with time. However have your sclerotherapist check the veins in the area for trapped blood also. Another fairly common side effect.

It sounds to me like there might be some trapped blood in the vein that was sclerosed. Call your doctor that did the sclerotherapy and ask them to remove the trapped blood, it will be instant relief. That usually just involves them poking it with a needle and squeezing the old blood out.
