There is no medical evidence that compression stockings benefit erythema nodosum. I suppose it is something you can try because there is no harm in wearing compression. Be healthy.

If you have swelling to your legs, compression stockings can help minimize the swelling.

You could try, but I don't think it will help.

There is no one treatment for this condition as different things can help and it is usually self limiting and resolves within six weeks or so. It may be useful to try a compression stocking (either knee or thigh length) in a 20-30 mmHg as this has been helpful in some patients. I advise to be professionally measured and fitted in a good quality hose.

Erythema nodosum tends to affect the cutaneous fat layer in the skin. It technically does not have a direct connection to vein issues. As for wearing compression stockings, it would really depend on whether the stockings irritate your nodules. Only you can determine that.

Treatment of erythema nodosum should be directed toward the cause, which is not venous insufficiency. If you are experiencing swelling, along with the painful nodules, then you may try compression stockings and continue only if your legs feel better while wearing them. In other words, they may be used for comfort, but are not therapeutic, and if symptoms are worse when wearing them, then don't use.

Compression stockings work by reducing the venous pressure in the legs and improving the venous return to the heart. Compression stockings will do this for the veins in your legs but may not help the symptoms of erythema nodosum.

My vascular surgeon did an ultrasound and prescribed endovenous laser ablation. She also suggested that I wear compression stockings after the procedure. However, due to severe psoriasis and eczema on my feet, I cannot wear full-coverage stockings that cover them. They must always be in wet dressings, but cannot be fully covered. Would footless compression stockings be just as effective as full-coverage hose following the procedure?
