I had varicose vein removal surgery some months ago. Now I have pain, cramps, swelling, mobility and balance issues, and limping after a short walk. I feel like something is severely wrong.
I don't know what you mean "laser varicose vein surgery". Lasers are not usually used treat varicose veins but to treat veins you can't see that cause the varices. Regardless, it is clear something is not right and you should seek a second opinion.

It is not uncommon, perhaps 10% of vein surgeries cause numbness in the skin after the procedure. This almost always is only an effect on the sensation to the skin in localized area of the leg. What you describe sounds different. i would definitely follow up with your doctor.

Varicose veins can be removed by a procedure called stab phlebectomy. This is performed in single or multiple sessions. Cramps and balance issues are unrelated to any vein procedure. A vascular surgery evaluation is helpful to identify leg problems.

If all you received was the laser treatment, then the reason you have pain is because your doc never treated anything else. What you have is vein disease. It does not just affect one or two veins. It can affect any part of your venous network from deep inside the leg all the way out to your skin in the form of a spider vein. Each of these veins is abnormal and cumulatively causes congestion within this venous network resulting in symptomatic discomfort. This is why vein disease is a circulatory problem not a cosmetic one. Proper treatment, in turn, requires that you treat all aspects of your leg. This results in an improved circulation and better feeling legs. Having just one or two of your veins treated, does not fix this problem.

What you are describing is not a normal occurrence following vein treatment. You should follow up with your treating physician or get another opinion from a vein specialist.
