Transilluminated powered phlebectomy and scarring?

I have heard bad things about scarring with hook phlebectomy but havent heard anything about transilluminated. Why isn't it more popular and easier to find information on?

TPP is not more popular, Hook phlebectomy does not cause scarring, if in the right hands, and it is easier and safer and less expensive. It's done under local anesthetic. TPP is fading away as a treatment.

I was told this is considered an experimental/investigational type of procedure...why is that? I was told that it is not significantly better than old methods.
