These are all considered cosmetic and out of pocket treatments. Options are to hide them with fillers such as Radiesse or to remove them via microphlebectomy. Sclerotherapy is not the best option for the typical, large hand veins.

I treat hand veins by a combination of sclerotherapy for the smaller veins and endogenous laser for the larger veins. Hand vein treatment may take several sessions but the results are cosmetically very good.

Hand veins, if they are pathologic or a significant cosmetic concern, are usually injected with a sclerosant. Other possible options, although not as frequently performed, are YAG laser treatments or micro-phlebectomy. The veins on the backs of the hands and tops of the feet are normally enlarged and so may not be pathologic. You would need an evaluation to see the treatment options benefits vs. risks for each of these procedures.

First off you must take into account hand veins are not the same as leg veins. Treating hand veins are almost always cosmetic and not medically necessary. I would explore why you do not want the hand veins to begin with. Are they unsightly, painful, make your hands look old? Are there other skin changes on your hands such as sun or age spots that are contributing to the way your hands look ?. If you fully understand that treating hand veins is purely cosmetic than I would recommend establishing care with someone that treats veins and has treated hand veins in the past. Veins in the hand can be treated with sclerotherapy.

Most hand veins have normal functioning valves, and are actually normal functioning. Many patients complain about unsightly hand vein. They may become large, and sometimes very bulging. This happens as we age.
We loose fat in the hand and can make them appear very large.

Hand veins respond very well to sclerotherapy. It usually take one to two treatment sessions.
