EVLT is laser and VNUS Closure is radio-frequency. They are very similar, just the technology is a little different. They do accomplish the same goal.

The difference is the type of energy. Laser uses the light of laser, while VNUS uses radiofrequency ablation (RFA) which is basically electrical energy. Overall, both work very well.

The end result for both are similar-closure of the refluxing valves and heating of the vein wall to seal it. EVLT uses laser energy which is basically a hot light and VNUS uses radiofrequency.
