Sclerotherapy, thermal ablation, and ambulatory phlebectomy may be safely performed in patients with thrombophilia. The key is understanding your overall risk of developing a blood clot, and visiting a provider to help you understand your true risks with treatment. It is not that there are no risks, rather risk is a unique feature each patient has. Can you wear compression stockings after treatment? Are you able to walk without difficulty? There are many things to consider, so if seeking sclerotherapy for vein care is important to you, recognize that it is important to reach out to your provider to develop a plan consistent with keeping you safe.

If you are treated by an experienced physician, it is safe to go ahead and have sclerotherapy injections. As a surgeon, I typically remove larger varicose veins via a procedure called microphlebectomy, in which tiny punctures are made to allow the veins to be removed in one treatment. Injections of these veins have a greater risk of "trapped blood," which is isolated and cannot move. It also takes more visits. Spider veins may take several treatments also.

It is probably OK, but it is contraversial. You might want to seek the opinion of a hematologist.
