Welcome to Vein Institute Of The Desert!
We are a medical practice that incorporates advanced and innovative medical technology into an elegant, relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. Located in Palm Desert, CA on Highway 111 just West of Deep Canyon. We treat all manifestations of superficial vein disease, an often under-appreciated disease. Vein disease treatment starts with a comprehensive evaluation by Dr. Warren including an ultrasound of the venous circulation in your lower extremities.
Our new technology continues to benefit patients by the use of EVLT to treat veins. EVLT is a minimally invasive procedure to treat varicose veins and is a clinically proven alternative to traditional and painful ligation and stripping. Our patients also reap the benefits of other advances in laser medicine as we offer Laser Assisted Liposuction, Laser Hair Removal, and Foto -Facial skin rejuvenation.
Dr. Joan Warren, Diplomate American Board of Phlebology, has been providing sclerotherapy and EVLT (Endovenous Laser Treatment) procedures for 11 years in Palm Desert California. She added the Smart Lipo local anesthesia procedure 5 years ago to her practice. Her results speak for themselves as she has done thousands of EVLT procedures, millions of sclero needle stick treatments, and hundreds of Laser Lipo Suction treatments. Our free 15 minute consultation is provided to allow you to understand and ask questions about those services that are best to meet your needs.
EVLT EVLT® uses targeted laser energy to close the vein shut and helps in making you look and feel better fast.
The EVLT® procedure is a minimally invasive laser procedure in treating varicose veins without scarring. The laser energy minimizes the vein walls, shrinking them and closing the faulty vein so that the blood cannot flow through it. After the treatment, the blood in the faulty veins will be diverted to the many normal veins in the leg.
Sclerotherapy is a treatment for the removal of spider veins and smaller varicose veins. Veins are injected with a sterile chemical sclerant, which irritates the vessel's lining, making it become inflamed, harden, and eventually fade away completely.
1. Expect the veins to look WORSE after initial therapy. The Day following injections (and for the following 2-7 days or longer depending on how your body heals from bruises) the areas injected will appear mosquito-bitten and bruised. Purple dots will appear. Some of the spider veins may appear like black lines. This is black dried blood trapped in the vein and is NOT dangerous.
2. The areas treated may itch or have some mild tenderness. These symptoms are a sign of inflammation which is a common denominator of all the medications used for this purpose. Without inflammation, the veins will not occlude and disappear.
3. Most importantly, after the FIRST treatment, you may notice that many of the veins do not disappear. THIS IS OKAY, AND IN NO WAY INDICATES THAT YOU WILL NOT RESPOND. EVERYONE RESPONDS! The first treatment is purposely less aggressive. The reason for this is so that you will have no harmful reactions to this therapy. The safety record of our Physician is virtually unblemished. By starting slowly, you can be assured that side effects are kept to a strict minimum.
1. Larger veins can feel like a cord under the skin. This cord may feel tender and KNOTS may be felt under the skin. The vein(s) may cause a feeling of tightness along the course. THESE ARE EXPECTED SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS AND SHOULD NOT BE CONSTRUED AS PROBLEMS. REMEMBER THE VEINS MUST HARDEN BEFORE THEY ARE ELIMINATED. THE HARDENING AND TIGHTNESS MAY BE PAINFULL.
