My 79 yr mom has leg ulcers on both feet. Asclera was injected last year. Ever since, however, she has had terrible bleeding off /on from her ulcers, esp when her feet are down. Is Asclera the cause of the bleeding? Is there anything we can do to counteract it?
People who suffer from venous ulcer disease have much more deep seeded problems that Asclera will not fix. Asclera is a good drug for vein treatments, but you really need to address the underlying cause of the ulcers themselves before using the Asclera, which is appropriate for spider veins. It is not appropriate for the larger veins that are typically the initial vessels that need to be treated in order to effectively eliminate your mother's leg ulcers. That said, the asclera is not the cause of the bleeding. It is your mother's underlying vein disease that is the cause of the bleeding. You need to fix her vein issues. Only then will the bleeding stop and the ulcer heal in permanently. Find a doc who treats the venous circulation defect that is the source of your mother's ulcers. That is when your mother's issues will resolve.

Asclera should not be the cause of bleeding for over a year. If your mom had venous stasis ulcers, then she should have a full venous evaluation with a reflux ultrasound exam. If she has reflux as the cause of the ulcers, then treating the reflux may heal the ulcers. See a vein specialist.
