I have bulging veins that burn, ache, and itch. An area around one leg even goes numb. What should I do about this?

I'm obese and post-menopausal. On the front of my left upper thigh, I have 4 small rock-like bulges that are in a straight row. At times they burn and ache; sometimes they are larger than other times. I take cool showers when they burn. On my right leg (outer upper thigh), there has been a small bulging purple vein that itches bad and looks like its leaking. That area also goes numb, yet still itches. I scratch trying to satisfy the deep itching below the numbness but fail to reach it.

The symptoms of venous reflux disease are so varied and numerous. The burning and itching you're experiencing may be a sign that the valves in nearby veins are incompetent. These valves are no longer working efficiently at evacuating the venous blood from your legs.

Venous blood is full of toxins that need to be cleared by the body. If not transported out of the legs, they can create many problems including bulging and painful veins that also cause burning and itching symptoms. The road to the best treatment starts with a thorough ULTRASOUND EXAM at a facility that specializes in vein therapies.

Good luck.

I have some redness and bruise-like pain (only on touching) on the front of my lower left leg. These symptoms are occurring near an area of varicose veins. I've been told I have a superficial blood clot that will resolve itself with elevation, NSAID cream, etc. I need to take an 11-hr flight in less than a week with return 14 days later. Is this safe? Should I wait until redness (less than 5cm) is completely gone? I did back and forth 8-hr flights 3 mos ago.
