I had a laser ablation about 2 months ago and now when I sit for too long, I feel pain and restlessness. Is this normal?

There can be different reasons to have pain 2 months after a laser ablation. Without examining you, however, I can only share what my experiences have been. After varicose veins undergo laser ablation, they slowly contract, shrink, and become ropey and feel tight over several weeks to months. In the first couple of months, it's not uncommon for the treated vein to develop small adhesions to the surrounding tissues (overlying skin and underlying muscle). These adhesions can cause temporary bouts of pain when the treated vein is stretched (such as in a sitting position). This type of discomfort usually goes away after 2 months. Sometimes, small nerve fibers close to the treated vein can be irritated, causing pain. Again, this usually improves over time. Also, in very rare cases, veins that undergo laser ablation can reopen, resulting in recurrence of pain and restlessness. The best way to sort this out is to arrange a follow-up with your vein specialist. Warm regards.
