I had vnus closure procedure of GSV in both the legs proceeding to sclerotherapy after a month,now after a year i am seeing spider veins on my feet

I used to wear compression stocking until 4 months after the procedure. I then started weight lifting at the gym to improve my muscle strength in my legs. Now the calf and thigh muscles are in good shape but I am seeing some spider veins on my feet. They are not painful but sometimes feel a bit swollen. I have started some breathing exercises and I elevate my legs twice a day for 10 min before and after the gym. Will the condition of spider veins get worse as time passes due to my exercising?

Varicose and spider veins all get worse over time. However, new clusters of veins at the ankle (called "corona phlebectatica") could mean the treated (ablated) saphenous vein may not be completely closed. Therefore, I recommend you visit your venous specialist for an ultrasound to make sure the treated vein is closed. Either way, exercises are good for you and will not exacerbate your condition.

You have a condition called chronic venous insufficiency. This is typically an inherited condition. While the affected veins have been sealed and spider veins treated, you may possibly develop new visible veins over time. Most of my patients come for treatments sooner than the original visits to stay on top of new veins.

Spider veins are a forever problem. Some will always appear over time. Closure procedures will not eradicate spider veins. Spider veins can occur for many reasons including aging, genetics and even sun exposure. Exercise should not increase spider veins.
